Jodok Happacher receives an SPS Award for his outstanding research on single Nitrogen-Vacancy centers in diamond at low temperatures, which is of importance for quantum sensing.
The Swiss Physical Society (SPS) awards prizes to young physicists for outstanding research in the early stages of their careers. In 2025, Jodok Happacher received one of these prestigious SPS awards, sponsored by Sensirion AG, for an outstanding scientific work in the field of Sensing, Detection and Monitoring. The award recognizes his work on the understanding and control of single Nitrogen-Vacancy centers in diamond for quantum sensing applications, which he carried out in the group of Prof. Patrick Maletinsky.
