Daniel Malz has been appointed as the new assistant professor with tenure track for "Theoretical Quantum Optics with a Focus on the Physics of Light-Matter Interaction".
Malz obtained his PhD at the University of Cambridge in 2018 in theoretical Physics, after completing a Master of Mathematics and a Bachelor of Arts in Natural Sciences. Malz has been an assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Copenhagen since 2023. Previously, he held research positions at the Technical University of Munich and the Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics. His research focuses on the interface between quantum optics, many-body quantum information theory, and tensor networks, spanning topics such as cavity optomechanics, quantum information dynamics in circuits, and collective radiation processes. Malz will take up his position at the Department of Physics on 1 February 2026.
